Saddlemire

Saddlemire

German Palatine settlers in the American colony. Do not appear to be United Empire Loyalists, but there are many descendants in Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G) Counties, and they are married to Loyalist families of the area.

Thank you to descendant Judy Barkley for the following information!

Mount Pleasant is the cemetery where the older Saddlemire’s are buried. Lot of them here. They have the tallest stone in the cemetery, a friend said they were well to do once upon a time, don’t know what happened to the loot, it was gone when Grampa Dalton got on the scene.” J. Barkley

SaddlemireFamily

Photo Above: “Saddlemire family photo, left, Amos, Peter, Stanley, wives behind, and Stanley’s 3 sisters to the right, Delia, Annie and Martha, with their husbands in front. G Dalton is the young boy, and young girls would be his sisters Lyla and Evah, and I guess Howard wasn’t born yet. Don’t know the year, G Dalton was born in 1888, so he might be 8 in this pic? Amos b 1838-1916 Stanley b 1865-1951 Dalton b 1888-1973 I don’t have Peter’s birthdate.” Judy Barkley
